Radiant Barrier Insulation
Installed in residential and commercial buildings to reduce Summer heat gain and Winter heat loss, a Radiant Barrier is a thin sheet of reflective material installed on one or two sides of the structure. The Radiant Barrier helps reduce the air temperature of the attic – or adjoining room – by preventing radiant heat from transferring in or out of the space.
There are two major types of reflective material recognized today as a Radiant Barrier:
1.) Low e Reflective Coating--it is a paint-like substance which is applied as a coating directly to the substructure and has an emittance value of +/- 25%.
2.) Aluminum Radiant Barrier, which we offer, has a continuous coverage and an emittance value as low as 3%. If installed properly, the Radiant Barrier will reduce the adjoining air temperature by as much as 30%, lowering the cooling load of an air conditioning unit and the level of resistance needed by conventional insulation.
